Apparently livingitrural appears to need some money, because I had about 100 emails today from various places offering me loans. Sweet.

It's always funny to see how those sneaky spammers go at it. Take the PayPal crowd. I've never had issues with PayPal itself, but PayPal has a following of crooks that enjoy seeing if you're ignorant enough to fall for their bag of tricks. I've learned the clues:

1. Misspelled words. Seriously, there almost always is a word spelled incorrectly somewhere in there. I tend to think the PayPal accounts team would run a spell check before telling you that your account security has been compromised. Usually the English language has been mangled as well. Somehow "We need you 2 Please update our recordes for us please" doesn't scream legit.

2. They are asking for information that you wouldn't even give your own mother. For example, why does PayPal need to know my debit card password? The bank I have my mortgage through? My credit card's name, expiration date, and the security code thingy on the back? Yeah right, bucko.

3. The email address it comes from looks like garbage. Sure it has the appearances of an actual email from PayPal, such as "PayPalAccounts@paypal.com" at first glance, but when you click 'reply' you get something like "xR23330O00621$$33actpaypal@fraud.com." If that doesn't make you question the validity of the email, nothing will.

Of course if you've never had a PayPal account, that's a good clue right there.

I realize I've been AWOL for awhile...very busy.

My brother's family dog, a black lab, just gave birth to 9 puppies fathered by an English Bull-dog. And yes, that is an odd combination. I visited them today and the puppies just kept popping out!

The puppies look strangely like an English Bull-dog with black lab fur. Hey, nice jaw guys!
